Serving the young people of the Spen Valley District of West Yorkshire, the District Scout Council has 9 Scout Groups in the area covering the communities of Cleckheaton, Gomersal, Scholes, Hightown, Liversedge, Birkenshaw and Hunsworth.
The Scout Movement in Spen Valley has, since May 1914, provided Scouting in the area and continues to do so today with our Young People enjoying access to an ever wider variety of adventurous activities, in a safe environment, under the care of an extremely capable, talented and committed Adult Volunteer Leadership Team.
Our Campsite, which forms the epicentre of the District, lies within 2 miles of Junction 26 of the M62 between Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield.
It is close to many Visitor Attractions such as, Oakwell Hall and Country Park, in nearby Birstall, both of which are famed for their connections to the Bronte Family, The Eureka Childrens Museum in Halifax, and many more.
We look forward to welcoming you in person to our District!
Spen Valley Scouts are a part of West Yorkshire Scouts. The West Yorkshire Scouts County Web Site can be found at http://www.wyscouts.org.uk/ and provides all sorts of county wide news and information, and is a great resource for parents and Scouters looking to learn more about Scouting across West Yorkshire.
